Dr. José Luís (Joe) Calderón, MD, was conferred the degree of Doctor of Medicine from Harvard Medical School.
ABOUT
José Luís (Joe) Calderón was born the third of six children in the South Bronx NY. He was raised in several indigent Puerto Rican & Black inner-city ghettos rampant with crime, drug addiction, prostitution, homelessness, gang violence, homicides, domestic violence, and sky-high high school dropout rates. Despite these challenges, Joe graduated from John Dewey H.S., Brooklyn, as a competition-based NY All-City violinist with a competition-based NY State Reagents Scholarship after which he undertook pre-medical studies at UAlbany, NY.
RESEARCH
As a physician/researcher Dr. Calderón has been funded to conduct twelve research projects by the National Institutes on Aging, Department of Health and Human Services, Agency for Healthcare Research Quality, and the National Center for Research Resources/National Institutes of Health.
